Sale of food - information for the 2010 Fair
A pre-booking system for all food traders selling from the market fields was introduced for the 2009 Fair. The system proved very successful and will be repeated for the 2010 Fair and thereafter.
Anyone wishing to sell food from a vehicle or stall on the market fields will only be allowed onto the fields if they have obtained a valid permit. Anyone who traded from the market fields at the 2009 Fair will have received an application form to apply for a 2010 permit. The new system will apply to food traders only at the 2010 Fair, but will be extended to all traders at future Fairs.
Traders will have to apply annually to obtain a permit. Applications for permits are assessed by Eden District Council’s Environmental Health Officers (food permits) and Cumbria County Council’s Trading Standards Officers (non food permits as from 2011).Please note that you cannot sell hot food or drinks after 11pm at night. (The sale of hot food and drink between the hours of 11pm and 5am is subject to the licensing requirements under the Licensing Act 2003.)
